Monday Evenings - consist of working with a mixed age group 12-15 year olds providing a drop in session with them where general chat and interaction with workers and volunteers provide "subtle" educational programmes using games as the medium i.e. pool, darts and computer games. Emphasis is on providing some structure and leading in example of how to interact in public and with each other to encourage positive behaviour.
WEDNESDAYS - GIRLS CLUB
3.30PM - 5PM - (Both Age Groups)
Wednesday Evenings - Girls only Night. We have recently dedicated an evening at the café for a "girls only" group which focuses on issues that are common among 12 and 15 year olds. The group meets to discuss issues that concern today's "teen" aged girls including friendships, dealing with cliques, how to handle peer pressure, building confidence and self-esteem. The group is conducted in an enjoyable and fun atmosphere where there are a lot of activities and group interacting so the girls feel like they are more hanging out, even though they were actually learning a lot
FRIDAYS - DROP IN
6PM - 8PM - (Under 12's) 8PM - 9PM - (Over 12's)
The Friday and Saturday night drop-in sessions have continued to be popular with the young people of Stobswell. The evening is now split into two distinct groups with the early session being for under 12s and the late session for 12+. The regular activities have been on offer such as pool, gaming and art activities as well as parties and outings. We feel that we have a good mix of young people that have consistently been attending for a long time as well as new people coming along to join in.
TUESDAYS - HEALTH CLUB
6.30PM - 8PM (Under 12's)
Tuesday Evenings - Working with a small group of 9 -12 year olds, we have used these evenings to help develop their social skills and group interaction by partaking in activities such as role play, singing and dancing games, Think Tank sessions on how they would like to see the club develop and playing team building games using items like juggling balls. This evening also promotes health and healthy practices by introducing young people to the benefits of eating fresh fruit and vegetables provided by a grant from the NHS.
THURSDAYS - ART CLUB
6.30PM - 8PM - (Under 12's)
Thursday Evenings - Art Club: The art club has gone in a more craft direction, identifying activities which are more accessible to all skill bases. We also utilise visiting artists to cover staff holidays to add variety to the art club and possibly outcomes, but with no extra cost. We are currently planning another big long term project getting graffiti artists and perhaps older groups involved in getting the table tops and seats painted. This will be a project for over the summer months.
